Dr. Ila Berman has accepted the position of O’Donovan Director of the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. Berman will take up the position in January 2014, and will become a regular faculty member, tenured at the rank of Full Professor in September 2013 starting with a non-teaching term that will allow her to complete several research and design projects before she takes up her administrative tasks. This will also allow for a period of transition that will guarantee the continued success of the school.

Berman’s partner Mona El Khafif will also be joining the faculty. Professor El Khafif will take up a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in September 2013. She will be running an M1 Design Studio/Seminar in the fall term and teaching in the 3A Studio in winter 2014.
