Europan 9: Sustainable Cities and New Public Spaces

February 10, 2007
by Canadian Architect

Europan is Europe’s leading housing design competition for young design professionals under 40, run by CABE. They are looking for innovative new ideas about how to design the next generation of housing in the UK. This year is the start of the ninth session of the competition. With one of the largest house-building programs since the Second World War under way, cities are undergoing an unprecedented period of urban regeneration. Meanwhile, climate change and scarcity of resources have become real problems that can no longer be ignored. Imaginative young design professionals are required to tackle these issues, balancing the need for new homes with inspiring ideas that are environmentally friendly and that will stand the test of time for the communities they serve.

Registration for this competition opens on February 6, 2007, with additional details available online on February 7, 2007. The registration deadline is May 28, 2007, and the submission deadline follows on June 28, 2007.

The winner will receive 12,000 and the opportunity to make the design a reality, in partnership with Europan sponsors and major developers.
