Doors Open Calgary is a two-day event taking place from October 15 to 16, 2011, and will open up spaces throughout Calgary, free of charge, for local residents and visitors alike. It allows everyone access to spaces and places usually closed to the public. It’s a weekend designed to discover more about the city: explore, hear stories and ask questions about Calgary’s meaningful places. Doors Open Calgary is an opportunity to visit sites and spaces that inspire, spark interest & awareness with a dash of intrigue.

The following general criteria are critical in determining participation in Doors Open Calgary: free admission; sites located throughout the city of Calgary; sites that enhance visitors’ knowledge of the city; sites would be open for a minimum of one full day from10:00am to 4:00pm or a total of 6 hours over two days; provide at least 2-3 volunteers are on site during the course of the weekend to introduce visitors to the site, provide interpretive materials and answer visitor’s questions; the building owner/operator is to provide interpretation for their site.
