Designing Cities for Health and Happiness

The Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto joins 8-80 Cities in welcoming Helle Søholt, founding partner and Managing Director of Gehl Architects, to present a public lecture from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the Design Exchange in Toronto.

Gehl Architects is an urban research and design consultancy that addresses global trends with a people-focused approach, utilizing empirical analysis to understand how the built environment can promote human flourishing. It applies this analysis to strategic planning and human-centred design to empower citizens, decision makers, company leaders, and organizations. The firm assigns high priority to continued research into city living and public space.

Learn about the successful international projects that have transformed public space to prioritize health, life quality, and an inclusive environment for all people. Søholt’s lecture will be followed by a lively discussion with a distinguished panel of local experts and urban thinkers who work in the fields of architecture, public health and urban affairs.
