The University of Calgary’s Faculty of Environmental Design welcomes Mariana Ibañez and Simon Kim as featured lecturers in the Design Matters lecture series on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 6:00pm.

On campus for the Taylor Visiting Lectureship, Ibañez and Kim operate IK Studio and Immersive Kinematics in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The design work of IK Studio and Immersive Kinematics has been exhibited at the ICA London, MoMA, and the Slought Foundation.

Their public lecture, Drama Queens, will trace an oppositional lineage of architecture that places theatre, performance, and bodies as the primogenitors of space. Architecture and design will be examined from the vanguard position of new media, advancing technologies and augmentation.

Ibañez and Kim were recently interviewed on Space +Place on CJSW 90.9—listen to it here:

The presentation takes place at the University of Calgary’s Downtown Campus Event Centre, located at 906 8th Avenue SW. For more information, please visit
