Design Hope

Nineteen teams of artists and architects each formed small gingerbread-style houses in order to raise money for Design Hope, a fundraiser for Hamilton, Ontario’s Hamilton Out of the Cold homeless program.
Artists included Shirley Elford, Catherine Gibbon, Conrad Furey, Bill Powell, Louise McCann, Cathrine Weir, and Gundar Robez. Seven local architecture firms also joined in on making houses including McCallum Sather Architects, and Vermeulen/Hind Architects.
Materials for the houses included everything from paper, clay, glass, wood, and, of course, gingerbread! This year the event raised over $24,000 for Hamilton Out of the Cold.
