The Chicago Athenaeum has announced a first awards program to honour significant new interior architecture designed and built anywhere in the world. The program will admit new corporate headquarters, skyscrapers, institutions, sports and transportation facilities, airports and residences for awards. The projects are to be designed by architects in their country of origin or abroad, either built or unbuilt as of January 1, 2002. The judging, will take place in April at Milan’s Salone di Mobile. The Chicago Athenaeum is the only museum of architecture and design in the United States and functions internationally as a museum dedicated to both architecture and industrial design. It continues to hold the Good Design competition, begun by Charles and Ray Eames and Eero Saarinen in 1951 in Chicago. Entry forms and further information are at www.chi-athenaeum.org.
