Returning this spring, Canstruction Toronto is a non-profit annual design and build competition in support of the Daily Bread Food Bank. Each participating team builds a structure entirely from canned foods. For 15 years, the Canstruction competition has helped to decrease hunger and fight poverty in the city.
Since 1992, Canstruction has contributed more than 17.5 million pounds of food to food programs around the world, demonstrating that we can win the fight against hunger.
Canstruction Toronto would like to invite teams of engineers, architects, designers, and students attending schools of architecture, engineering, and design to take part in Canstruction at the Toronto Dominion Centre in Toronto.. Teams must design and build structures made entirely from canned foods within a 10′ x 10′ x 8′ space.
The deadline for entries is Friday, February 14, 2014, followed by a design submission deadline of March 7, 2014. The deadline for purchasing cans is Apr 25, 2014. Food delivery to the Daily Bread Food Bank takes place from May 12-16, 2014, and food delivery to the TD Centre is on May 25, 2014. Build night is on May 26, 2014, followed by awards night on May 27, 2014. Decanstruction takes place on June 1, 2014.
