Canada’s best student artists unveil their award-winning artwork at the 6th annual BMO 1st Art! Invitational Student Art Competition

An opening reception for the BMO 1ST Art! Invitational Student Art Competition 2008 will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCCA) at 952 Queen Street West in Toronto on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm. Remarks will take place at 7:30 pm.

Celebrate the creative excellence and diversity of top students’ artwork chosen from more than 100 postsecondary institutions nationwide. One national winner has been selected, along with 13 regional winners.

An exhibition of original works of art by these winners Canada’s most exceptional graduating student artists will take place at MOCCA from October 8 to October 26, 2008. Admission to the gallery is free and MOCCA is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The esteemed judges for the 2008 Competition were: Camilla Singh, Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art; Steven Loft, Curator in Residence of Indigenous Art at the National Gallery of Canada; Gary Michael Dault, Writer and Arts Critic; Landon Mackenzie, Artist and Educator; Gilles G. Ouellette, President of BMO Private Client Group; and Dawn Cain, Curator of the Corporate Art Collection, BMO Financial Group.
