The net is being cast throughout North America in search of architects and interior designers who are passionate about colour usage — and who have a portfolio of projects to prove it — as Benjamin Moore issues its HUE Awards call for entries. The competition, now in its 6th year, recognizes exceptional use of colour in architecture and interior design, and will accept submissions until July 12, 2013. There is no fee to enter; downloadable entry forms and instructions are available at www.benjaminmoore.com/en-ca/for-architects-and-designers/benjamin-moore-hue-awards-2013.

Since establishing the HUE Awards in 2005, Benjamin Moore has presented more than $160,000 in prize money to both the supernovas and novices of the design profession in categories that include Residential Interiors, Residential Exteriors, Contract Interiors and Contract Exteriors. Additionally, there is a Lifetime Achievement Award, plus past years have seen the presentation of discretionary awards for Social Responsibility and also one for Restoration & Preservation. A $5,000 cash prize goes to each honouree along with a HUEY mouth-blown crystal sculpture.

The HUE Award judges who will meet in mid-October to review entries also have been named. The illustrious group includes:  Brian Gluckstein, Toronto-based interior designer and CEO, GlucksteinDesign and GlucksteinHome; Eve Ashcraft, architectural colour consultant; Murray Moss, design entrepreneur and founder of Moss design gallery; Chee Pearlman, design curator and founder of Chee Company; and Susanne Slesin, publisher/editorial director, Pointed Leaf Press and well-known former design journalist.

“The prestige attached to the Benjamin Moore HUE Awards since its inception is owing to the extraordinary experience and stature of the individuals who serve as judges,” said David Melançon, Benjamin Moore’s chief marketing officer. “The panelists who have accepted to serve for year six of HUEY are towering figures in the world of design. In addition to their collective enthusiasm for the program, they each bring great insight and perspective, and Benjamin Moore is grateful for their commitment to this initiative.”
