Book launch for John C. Parkin, Archives and Photography: Reflections on the Practice of Modern Architecture

A book launch is taking place on Friday, June 20, 2014 at Shelf Life Books in Calgary to celebrate John C. Parkin, Archives and Photography: Reflections on the Practice of Modern Architecture.

John C. Parkin led the wave of Postwar Modernism in Canadian architecture, both in how architecture was expressed and in what it represented. Authored by Linda Fraser, Michael McMordie and Geoffrey Simmins, this richly illustrated book explores how he created a new imagery of architecture and the architect that was cosmopolitan, sophisticated and self-assured, and provides an understanding of why Mid-Century Modernism is still so appealing today.

The launch takes place from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Shelf Life Books is located at #100-1302 4th Street SW in Calgary. Refreshments will be served.
