Big Turtle Competition: proposal call to create six contemporary art gardens

This call for proposals is aimed at seasoned and budding creators that may be architects, landscape architects or visual artists. They may come from Quebec or the rest of Canada, or from France, the United Kingdom, or the United Statescountries with historic links to Quebec City.

The Ephemeral Gardens will be a unique art event. Designed by architect Pierre Thibault ofAtelier Pierre Thibault and by the Socit du 400e anniversaire de Qubec, the event will bringcreators together from different perspectives to share their creative viewpoints on the leading theme. The theme for 2008 will be Encounter. The year will be a truly festive one to honour Quebec City’s 400th anniversary.

Their palettes will encompass a mix of different elementsincluding plants and flowers. Once the winning proposals have been selected, the gardens will be created in summer 2008 on the Espace 400e site. They will be open to the public from June 10 to September 28, 2007.
