The Air Canada enRoute Hotel Design Awards celebrates the best Canadian-designed hotels around the world. Judged by the international jurors Douglas Coupland, Matali Crasset, Moshe Safdie and Adam D. Tihany, the awards recognize the outstanding achievements by Canadian designers and architects working in the hospitality realm.
For over 50 years, Air Canada’s enRoute magazine has been the country’s leading travel authority, bringing the best in travel to one million global readers each month. The awards are their way of acknowledging the talent of our fellow Canadians who make our time away from home both unique and memorable.
The competition is open to all Canadian designers and architects working here and abroad. (Canadians working at foreign firms may submit entries as long as they are credited as the lead designer/architect.) The competition is open to new hotels and resorts – as well as properties that have undergone extensive renovations – that were completed between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012. The hotel or resort may be located anywhere in the world.
Entries may be submitted in any or all of the following 12 categories:
149 Rooms or Fewer: Best Standard Room, Best Suite, Best Lobby, Best Spa or Pool, and Best Restaurant or Bar.
150 Rooms or More: Best Standard Room, Best Suite, Best Lobby, Best Spa or Pool, and Best Restaurant or Bar.
All Hotels: Best Overall Interior Design and Best Overall Hotel Architecture.
Entry to the awards is free. Judging will be based on the design’s creativity, aesthetic impact, functionality, comfort, sustainable features and innovation. Projects are sought that take hotel design to the next level, thereby enriching the travel experience. Decisions of the jury are final.
The deadline for entries is 5:00pm on March 1, 2013.
Winners will be notified personally and winning entries will be featured in the September 2013 issue of Air Canada’s enRoute magazine and at www.enroute.aircanada.com. Winners will also be honoured at an awards ceremony at IIDEX Canada, presented in partnership with Interior Designers of Canada and Architecture Canada RAIC | IRAC. By submitting materials, including photography, you acknowledge that these may be used in all print and digital enRoute publications and any promotion for the awards.
