Architectural Institute of British Columbia Hosts One-Day Conference on May 7

The Architect Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) is hosting a new event to spur conversation through an interactive workshop, panel discussion, and seminars.

This one-day professional development event aims to promote shared experience and facilitate engagement in dialog with fellow architects, local community groups, governments, and the public.

2019 is the inaugural year for this biennial event, with the AIBC’s multi-day conference taking place on alternating years. The institute is excited to offer this new streamlined format that values a meaningful conversation.

Hosted at British Columbia’s flagship convention centre, Vancouver Convention Centre West, the event is geared to architects and colleagues and takes place on May 7th, 2019.

The confab consists of four streams, which include 12 sessions and an interactive workshop covering a variety of topics:

  1. Business: Business Development via Engaged Conversations, The Future of the Profession, First Nation Community Engagement, Design as a Unifier and Catalyst for Transformation.
  2. Case Studies: The Halifax Central Library: Designing Through Community Conversation, Vancouver’s Family-Friendly Housing, Heritage Structures: Opportunities and Challenges, 100 Mile Building: Generating Local Solutions.
  3. Design/Inspiration: Affordable Housing: A Role for Architects, Geometry with Feeling, Understanding Real Feng Shui and Its Impact on Architect, Green Zoning versus Green Building.
  4. Interactive Workshop: The Future of Design Delivery.
