An Evening with Jan Gehl at the Calgary Public Library

CAUSA in association with the IBI Group invite all to an evening with Jan Gehl, who will be speaking about his new book entitled Cities for People.

Jan Gehl is Professor of Urban Design at the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He is also the founding partner of Gehl Architects – Urban Quality Consultants. His research on public spaces and public life began in Copenhagen, but was quickly applied to many other cities in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. His ideas and approaches to design for public spaces incorporate the cutting edge of technology without losing sight of what best supports and enhances people’s experience of everyday life in the public realm.

The event takes place at 7:00pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the John Dutton Theatre, located in the central branch of the Calgary Public Library, 616 MacLeod Trail SE. A wine and cheese reception following the presentation is sponsored by Land Use Planning & Policy, The City of Calgary.
