AIBC offers architectural walking tours this summer
The AIBC’s Architectural Walking Tours program offers unique perspectives of the cities of Vancouver and Victoria. Those interested are invited to take advantage of six distinct tours in each city. In Vancouver, these tours are focused on: Gastown, Chinatown, Strathcona, Yaletown/Crosstown, West End, and Downtown. In Victoria, these tours cover: Inner Harbour, Fort Victoria, Chinatown, Ecclesiastical, Art Deco/Modern, and James Bay.
Summer tours are offered throughout July, August and early September. Tours are limited to 20 people, determined on a first-come, first-served basis, and begin at various locations throughout the city. Check the tour descriptions closely and keep your eyes open for the AIBC logo and your tour guide.
Tours are approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long. It is recommended that you arrive at the tour start location at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time. Depending on which tour you choose, we walk distances of up to 3 kilometres (2 miles). All tours are wheelchair-accessible.
Comfortable walking shoes and loose-fitting clothing are recommended. Check the weather and dress appropriately. Don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat on sunny days. A light jacket and an umbrella are a good idea if it is raining.
The cost for each tour is $10 per person. We accept cash on the day of the tour or you can call the AIBC ahead of time and use your Visa or MasterCard. Check out the 2013 pre-paid Tour Card. In addition, it may be possible to accommodate group requests ($150/tour) at other times throughout the year, depending on tour guide availability. Please e-mail your request to [email protected] or call 604.683.8588.
