AIBC looks to honour the best in BC Architecture

The Architectural Institute of British Columbia is now accepting entries for the 2012 AIBC Architectural Awards. Each year, this program showcases the best in BC architecture across multiple award categories including:

* Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia Awards in Architecture (Medal and Merit) – a prestigious award recognizing excellence in completed architectural projects led or designed by AIBC members.

* The AIBC Special Jury Award – given for exceptional achievement as determined by the awards jury from all entries.

* The AIBC Innovation Award – acknowledging achievements that are not strictly “architectural” but that have a direct bearing on the future of architecture in such areas as design, building technology, use of materials and sustainability.

* The AIBC Emerging Firm Award – singling out the development, success and contributions of emerging architectural firms.

“BC architects have earned their place amongst the world’s best,” says AIBC Council President Gordon Richards MAIBC FRAIC CP. “These awards not only allow us to call attention to truly inspired innovative architecture, but they also help to set new standards for architectural excellence in this province.”

The registration deadline is April 1, 2012, followed by the submission deadline on April 16, 2012. More Detailed information regarding the AIBC Architectural Awards program can be found online at

Submissions will be judged by an independent jury consisting of design community leaders and related professionals. This year’s recipients will be announced at the prestigious AIBC President’s Dinner & Awards Gala taking place May 11, 2012 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West as part of the 2012 AIBC Annual Conference.
