How Samsung rugged devices can help transform the construction industry in the digital era

Rugged and durable devices for your toolbox

Every construction site needs the right tools to get the job done, especially with changes to how sites function away from pen and paper, physical distancing requirements, and the need for resilient tools. With the Samsung rugged device lineup, which includes the Galaxy XCover Pro, Galaxy Tab Active Pro and Galaxy Tab Active2, innovate how you work in the field to help keep projects on track.

Rugged durability

Construction conditions are rough: no job site is ever the same. From exposure to different landscapes, different temperatures, inclement weather and rough terrain such as concrete, mud and steel, tools need to keep up – both functionally and physically. These Samsung rugged devices are MIL-STD-810G-tested, meaning they are able to withstand drops, shocks, vibrations and extreme temperatures.[1] Provide your team with a rugged and durable solution, whether they are working with machinery, or are constantly on the move.

Projects can’t always come to a halt for a weather delay when you’re on a tight deadline. IP68 rated, these devices are water-resistant to help your team work through inclement weather.[2]

Created with job sites in mind, all these devices are also equipped with Enhanced Touch sensitivity, so workers can keep gloves on to scroll, check a job’s status or research a material’s availability.[3]

Cross-device functionality

Technology can help streamline equipment investments and drive efficiencies for teams as they collaborate. Field workers are often loaded down enough with tools and machinery without also having to carry a mobile phone, pen and paper for blueprints, and a laptop for reporting.  Whether it involves transferring pen-and-paper records to digital ones, or helping reduce the number of devices staff have on hand, you need tech that can keep up.

The Samsung ruggedized lineup provides various all-in-one solutions to help optimize the tools you already use. For example, the Galaxy XCover Pro features Microsoft Teams Walkie-Talkie. It can be enabled by the physical push-to-talk programmable key on the side of the device, allowing workers to communicate conveniently with each other, with supervisors, and with those back at the office.

The Galaxy Tab Active Pro allows supervisors to markup blueprints and sketches conveniently while in the field. Then, they can take the tablet to a temporary workstation at the construction site to finish up reporting, all with a desktop experience using Samsung DeX[4] mode. Better yet, a workstation is not required: users can attach a keyboard[5] to the tablet to enable standalone DeX mode, changing the user interface from that of a tablet to a desktop computer for a convenient PC-like experience.

Secure and manageable

When working remotely and from different sites, security is vitally important for companies. Devices need to be secure – not only on the outside, but also inside. Samsung equips its ruggedized lineup with Knox Security, built into the devices from the chip up.

The Knox platform consists of overlapping defense and security mechanisms that better protect against intrusion, malware and the more malicious threats that may come with confidential business information.

The Galaxy XCover Pro, Galaxy Tab Active Pro, and Galaxy Tab Active2 are available at Samsung Experience Stores in Canada, or online at shop.samsung.com/ca.
