20th annual Ontario Steel Design Awards of Excellence

The 2010 Celebration of Steel Innovation in Ontario is now accepting submissions in five categories.


Buildings or other structures in which architectural considerations predominantly influenced the design of the structure.


Buildings, bridges, process plants or other structures in which engineering considerations predominantly influenced the design and construction of the structure.


Green Buildings
Buildings or other structures in which steel has been re-used, recycled or used as part of a sustainable development project, ie., LEED certification


Projects Constructed Outside of Ontario
Industrial buildings or other structures constructed outside of the province that have been fabricated by a CISC Ontario Region Fabricator.

Projects Converted into Steel
Buildings or other structures in which structural steel was chosen over other building materials because of its unique structural qualities. 


Applicants can enter a project in more than one category, and all projects must be completed between October 1, 2008 and April 1, 2010, or at the very least have its steelwork completed in that time frame. Projects that have been submitted previously but have not won an award may be resubmitted in following years. Projects must illustrate ingenuity and innovation in the use of structural steel or plate work. All submissions are considered regardless of size and costs involved. The steel fabricator must be a CISC Ontario Region Member.


An “Intention to Submit” form is to be completed and received by March 1, 2010. Further submission information and instructions, as well as all forms are available in electronic format at www.cisc-icca.ca/ontarioawards. The Project Submission Package should be bound in a presentation binder, and must be submitted by April 2, 2010.
