2014 Marble Architectural Awards for North America
Organized by the Internazionale Marmi e Macchine (IMM) Carrara, the Italian Trade Agency, and the Italian Marble Center (Los Angeles), the 5th Marble Architectural Awards, dedicated this year to projects in North America (Canada, United States and Mexico), will be held in Carrara, Italy from May 21-24, 2014. The awards program recognizes distinguished architectural projects in which – from both technical and formal point of view – natural stones have been substantially, masterfully and visibly used. There are three categories for the Award: External Covering, Interiors, and Urban Landscaping.
In close association with the biennial CarraraMarmotec (International Show of Marble, Technologies, Architecture and Design), the Committee will consider only those projects that have been completed in North America between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2013. All registered architects, designers and planners are eligible to submit. Works may be entered by property owners, developers, or anyone that has played an important role in the completion of the project (stone suppliers, stonelayers, technical consultants, etc.), but the awards will be given exclusively to the designers or design team.
The selected architects will be invited to CarraraMarmotec and will enjoy the organizers’ full hospitality. They will be presented with their Award during a ceremony in May 2014, and are expected to visit the show (according to a program that will be announced at a future date), to learn about the Italian stone industry and about Carrara’s natural stones. The award will also include the publication of a catalogue, and an exhibition where the photos of the winners’ projects will be exhibited.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, February 28, 2014.
