2013 CISC Ontario Steel Design Awards of Excellence

The Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) is the national industry organization representing the structural steel, open web steel joist and steel platework fabricating industries. Formed in 1930, CISC is a non-profit industry association. CISC operates as a technical, marketing and government relations organization that promotes good design and safety, as well as the efficient, economical and sustainable use of structural steel.

Events such as the CISC Ontario Region Steel Design Awards of Excellence create networking opportunities for architects, engineers, building official, contractors and other stakeholders in the fabrication industry.

The award categories are as follows:

Architectural: Buildings or other structures in which architectural considerations predominantly influenced the design of the structure.

Engineering: Buildings, bridges, process plants or other structures in which engineering considerations predominantly influenced the design and construction of the structure.

Green Buildings: Buildings or other structures in which steel has been re-used, recycled or used as part of a sustainable development project, i.e. meeting LEED criteria.

Projects Constructed Outside of Ontario: Buildings or other structures constructed outside of the province that have been fabricated by a CISC Ontario Region Fabricator.

Projects from the above categories may be selected for an award of excellence or an award of merit. Judges reserve the right to award or not to award in each category based on the quality of the submitted projects.
