Architecture firms recognized among Canada’s Best Managed Companies
Several architecture firms have been recognized among Canada’s Best Managed Companies in 2015. This award recognizes Canadian owned and managed companies with revenues over $10 million that have continuously outperformed their competitors by creating jobs, achieving sustainable growth and excelling both at home and abroad. The competition is sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, Queen’s School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums, with the results published in the March 9 edition of The National Post.
Quadrangle Architects and WZMH Architects, both based in Toronto, were among the winners added to the list this year.
Montreal-based Lemay and Winnipeg-based Number TEN Architectural Group are among the re-qualified winners in 2015.
After seven years of successfully re-qualifying, Toronto-based Diamond Schmitt Architects has been promoted to the Platinum Club of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. Vancouver-based OMICRON has also been awarded Platinum Club status in the rankings.
“To be recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies is a testament to the efforts of our entire organization,” said Susan Ruptash, Managing Principal at Quadrangle Architects, “Quadrangle’s commitment to developing diverse expertise, professionalism and inspiring design solutions has led to results that extend well beyond financial performance.” Ruptash added, “This award is an ideal way to celebrate how over 30 years Quadrangle has evolved and flourished while supporting our client’s businesses, building thoughtful communities and creating new opportunities.”
WZMH receives the recognition as it celebrates a milestone anniversary. Now in its 55th year, WZMH has grown into a global presence in architectural design, which has diversified into multiple sectors and geographic locations. “At WZMH we recognize that the final built form must achieve a balance between the practical and the aesthetic. This recognition highlights our team’s commitment to delivering innovative designs that are supported by solid business acumen,” said Carl Blanchaer, Principal.
Hundreds of Canadian companies were evaluated by an independent judging panel on how they address various business challenges, including new technologies, globalization, brand management, leadership, leveraging and developing core competencies, designing information systems, and hiring and fostering the right talent to facilitate growth.
“With many unknowns surrounding today’s economic outlook, keeping a close eye on market conditions is critical for all Canadian businesses, but especially for privately owned enterprises,” said Peter E. Brown, National Co-Leader of Canada’s Best Managed Companies program and Partner, Deloitte Private. “Best Managed companies identify and prepare for potential swings in the market ahead of time. This allows them to adapt their business models and shift investment strategies to areas that are still important to the business, while simultaneously being shielded from adverse market consequences.”
