The Design Exchange and Microsoft Canada are pleased to be hosting the next celebration of the future, an evening of cocktails and a panel discussion on the design theme "Being Connected, Staying Connected." The event takes place on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 on the DX's Historic Trading Floor, located in the TD Canada Trust Tower in Toronto. Students from OCAD University will be unveiling their latest concepts revolving around the theme, which is to follow a panel discussion with leading design and innovation thinkers Bruce Nussbaum, Bill Buxton and Roger Martin.
Bruce Nussbaum, a leading proponent of design and innovation, is a former Business Week editor, author, creator of Nussbaum on Design blog, and current Professor of Innovation and Design at Parsons - The New School of Design. He is the founder of the Innovation & Design online channel and founder of IN: Inside Innovation, a quarterly innovation supplement. Bruce continues to lead the discussion of the intersection of design and innovation with his most recently defined conceptual framework "Creativity Intelligence" or CQ.
Roger Martin has served as Dean of the Rotman School of Management since September 1, 1998. He is an advisor on strategy to the CEOs of several major global corporations. He writes extensively on design and is a regular columnist for BusinessWeek.com's Innovation and Design Channel. He is also a regular contributor to the Washington Post's On Leadership blog and to the Financial Times' Judgment Call column.
Bill Buxton is a relentless advocate for innovation, design, and - especially - the appropriate consideration of human values, capacity, and culture in the conception, implementation, and use of new products and technologies. This is reflected in his research, teaching, talks and writing - including his column on design and innovation for BusinessWeek.com. Currently he is Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research.
"The Design Exchange is thrilled to continue providing a platform for various design themes and issues to be discussed. Exposing students and the community to the latest thought discussion provides for a greater opportunity to understand the power of design," says Samantha Sannella, CEO and President of the DX.
Doors open to the event on April 19th at 5:00pm, and the event promptly begins at 5:30pm, wrapping up around 8:00pm. To RSVP please contact Laura Brewer at the Design Exchange at 416.216.2114 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
