Design team confirmed for Mount Royal University Conservatory of Music in Calgary

The design team has been confirmed for the Mount Royal University Conservatory of Music in Calgary, a new 700-seat concert hall, ensemble studios and practice rooms that are associated with the University’s outreach programming, serving over 30,000 students. The Conservatory’s capital campaign has relied on the resources of the Canadian government as well as private donors who have responded generously to the institution's ambitious business plan and expansion of facilities.

Lead architect Pfeiffer Partners Inc. in association with locally based Sahuri + Partners Architecture Inc. is working with Auerbach Pollock Friedlander Performing Arts/Media Facilities Planning and Design, who are providing full-scope theatre consulting services, while acoustical design is being provided by The Talaske Group.

Located on the Lincoln Park Campus, the 97,000-square-foot Conservatory will be a focal point of the expanded campus, and is part of a six-phase expansion program that started in 2001 to increase student enrollment. The $60-million project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2013.

Mount Royal University currently has an enrollment of more than 12,000 full- and part-time credit students.
