Canadian consortium awarded master plan commission in Kuwait

A Toronto-based consortium of WZMH Architects, Moriyama + Teshima, and du Toit Allsopp Hillier was awarded the commission to prepare a master plan for the New University City for Kuwait University at Al-Shadadiyah, Kuwait. This came about as the culmination of a pre-qualified proposal call to five internationally recognized firms from Canada and the United States. The new campus is to be established on a 520 hectare (1285 acres) undeveloped site to accommodate 30,000 full time students by the year 2015. There will be 16 colleges and support facilities. The master plan will include building design guidelines aimed at reducing environmental impact and achieving sustainability goals. All members of the consortium are extremely pleased to be part of another success story for Canadian architects abroad.
